Relaxation Staycation 2012

So I have been MIA for a little while because I was on vacation.  More specifically, it was my "Relaxation Staycation 2012" and it was glorious.
I did very little around the house, I slept whenever I felt like it and there was even a day or two when I only ventured outside to take the dog out.  I think everyone should get a day if not a whole week to just laze around and enjoy the day.  Let your body tell you what it wants.  You want to nap, nap.  If you want to eat a bunch of ice cream and sing your favorite songs from Glee, go for it!  Do you want to dance around in your skivvies while your dog looks at you with something like pity, then go on with your bad self! (Disclaimer:  I may or may not have done some or all of these things myself)
Coming back to work was an adventure in and of itself.  Apparently our whole system went down nationwide for three and a half days, which when everything you do is on the computer, is disastrous.  I was hoping to ease back into the swing of things but it's been more like being shoved in the deep end during a monsoon.  That seems a little ridiculous but it fits since that is how crazy it's been.
I'll keep motoring along, it's what I do, but I'll be daydreaming of my next vacation.  It feels like it can't come soon enough!

Senseless...

I cannot begin to know how the families and victims of the Colorado movie theater shooting are feeling.  All I know is that they must be in incredible pain.
For one maniac to have such a blatant disregard for life is incomprehensible to me.  To just shoot innocent people that wanted nothing more than to enjoy a movie.  I just don't understand.
I know there isn't anything I can say that hasn't already been said, and probably much more eloquently than I could say it.  My heart goes out to everyone involved and I leave you with these words from George Takei that express what a lot of us feel.

A pet's best friend

While getting in my car after work tonight, I saw a piece of paper on the ground.  Of course I'm not one to just walk by it with out being a snoop so I stopped and read it.  Someone had written, in big black marker, and I quote "Are you fucking insane to leave your pet in your car??  If you love them, leave them home!!".  I have no idea who wrote this or who it was written to, I'm assuming it was left on some person's windshield, but I have to say that I love the person that wrote it.
Today wasn't as hot as it's been the last week or so, meaning, it wasn't in the 90's but it was still pretty warm and it drives me batshit crazy to see people leave their dogs in the car on a hot day.  So crazy that I want to put a brick through those people's windshields.  I haven't done this, yet, but seriously people, come on!  Pets depend on people to not be idiots with their lives.
Admittedly, I am an insane animal lover.  I once saw a kitten run across the street and I went home, grabbed cat food and treats and tried to rescue it and when I couldn't find it, I left enough food and treats to make all the cats in the neighborhood get indigestion.
Oops, getting off track, the point is, I think people should have to take a basic common sense test to own a pet.  When I read about abused animals, first I cry, then I get mad.  Why have a pet and then be horrible to it? I don't understand.  If anyone can explain it to me, I'd love to hear it.

Technology?

Alright alright, so I'm not the most consistent blogger yet.  I'll work on it, promise!
I see all these awesome blogs with really kickass layouts and I feel a little jealous.  I wish I was more computer savvy, but let's face it, technology is not my bag baby.  Seriously, iphone?  I don't even have a cell phone!  But what about an ipod, or ipad?  Nope, I have a 20 dollar Sears Black Friday special mp3 player and a desktop computer from 2007.  It's the technological stone age at my house!  They all work and do the jobs they are supposed to (most of the time without me hitting them) and that's really all I need.  I have never been one to drool over the Next! Best! Thing! Ever!  Ohmygodyouneedthisnow!
No thanks, I'll wait.  What am I waiting for?  I have no clue, maybe a super crazy sale to justify it to myself.  You're more likely to find me spending my hard earned cash on my many adorable animals. I swear I'm not a crazy cat lady.  I'm not!  I have more than just cats.  Maybe I don't want to buy the newest and coolest because I know it will be obsolete within 6 months to a year and there's no way I can keep up with that kind of pressure.
I'm sure there are a few out there that I probably should catch up on. So this is where you come in, any thoughts on what gadgets are essential?? You've read about my lack of technological prowess so be easy on me!
